COLUMBUS, OH — Local woman Sarah Mitchell's vote sadly went uncounted Tuesday after election officials discovered she had failed to post a selfie with her "I Voted" sticker.

Though Mitchell had gone to her polling place and submitted a completed ballot, officials said she had neglected the critical step of posting a picture on social media to show everyone her sticker.

"We checked her Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok. Nothing," said county election official Dennis Crowley. "There is simply no seflie posted online showing her 'I Voted' sticker. We have a properly completed ballot in hand, but it's got to go in the shredder. Rules are rules."

According to officials, Mitchell could have validated her ballot with any number of approved captions, such as "Did my part!". Sadly, she did not rise to even that very low bar.

"It's frankly embarrassing. People who are that lazy shouldn't have their vote counted anyway," said local woman Fiona Maxwell. "It takes all of 15 seconds to snap a pic and put it on Instagram. Is that too much to ask for the sake of democracy?"

At publishing time, Mitchell had finally posted her selfie, but officials said her ballot would remain provisional until someone commented, "You go, girl!"
