SALT LAKE CITY, UT — The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is in the midst of preparations for what it says is the busiest time of the year for its missionaries — the one evening every year when everyone opens their doors: Halloween.

In an age when few people will open their doors for strangers, Mormon missionaries have struggled to spread the good news of Joseph Smith. But on Halloween, all bets are off. Missionaries get lots of face time with would-be converts — and lots of candy.

"It's my favorite time of year," said Elder Jon Grant. "Going house to house and eating Reese's Peanut Butter Cups — it's the kind of world I'll make someday when I become a god. Just like Jesus."

Church officials previously warned against the occult and anything that trivializes evil, which could include Halloween, but have come around after learning people are more willing to talk to Mormons when they think they're kids in costumes.

"I used to think Halloween was the devil's parade," said President Dallin H. Oaks, "but what Satan meant for evil, God must surely have meant for good because way more people open their doors for us."

Elder Ronald A. Rasband of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, who chairs the Missionary Executive Committee, announced that 200,000 missionaries were ready for Halloween. "This is our Super Bowl," he said. "It's go time."

At publishing time, church officials recommended dressing as Grogu, also known as Baby Yoda, if homeowners still refused to open their doors.

Tucker Carlson is just asking questions about World War 2. Why was it even fought? Was Hitler really such a bad guy? And why did Churchill never denounce the trans agenda?
