HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA — Friends and family rallied to provide much-needed comfort to their loved one today, as a local man found himself experiencing the tragedy of having to go to work even though he didn't feel like it.
Chris Davenport told those close to him that he needed to somehow find the strength to endure the hardship after realizing he needed to do his job today, despite really wanting to just stay home and do something else.
"It's through life's darkest storms that we find our greatest strength," Davenport later said. "I don't know why I'm forced to go through this difficult ordeal, but sometimes you're just forced to play the hand you're dealt. Some people have things easy in life. Other people, like me, have to go to work, even when we don't feel like it. I'll make it through. Somehow."
Davenport's inner circle urged everyone to provide as much support as they could. "We're all sending Chris our thoughts and prayers today," said Davenport's friend, Scott Ray. "It's always tough to watch someone you care about go through such a rough time. It's surprising that he's held up this long. Only by the grace of God."
Davenport had reportedly managed to make it to his lunch break, though the people close to him were worried about his chances of surviving the second half of the day. "We're talking about setting up a GoFundMe," Ray continued. "It's the least we could do for him having to go to work when he doesn't feel like it."
At publishing time, Davenport's friends said his emotional state had worsened after he learned that he was also expected to work the rest of the week.
