LONDON — The Duchess of Sussex was welcomed back to England with open arms and a legally mandated burqa on Friday, according to sources.
Meghan Markle, wife of Prince Harry, was reportedly grateful to be back in the UK after suffering years of oppression in the U.S., where people refused to watch her Netflix shows. Now, underneath her mandatory burqa, she's reportedly smiling more than ever.
The pair reportedly arrived to considerable fanfare at Heathrow Airport, with Markle becoming the first royal-adjacent woman to go through the "Ceremonial Bestowment of the Royal Burqa," a new tradition mandated by UK Parliament.
"I'm so glad to be back in the UK, where diversity is celebrated," Markle said as she quickly put on her new burqa to avoid being arrested. "It's the only place in the world women can be truly celebrated."
The former royal outcasts announced their plans to return to the UK back on August 19, citing a desire to give their kids a proper English upbringing and live under Islamic rule.
"The burqa was a bit of a surprise, but I couldn't be happier," Prince Harry said. "She's happy too. I can see it in her eyes, which is all I can see of her."
At publishing time, Markle had announced plans to star in another Netflix show in which she details her experience living as a woman in Islamic society.
