NEW YORK, NY — Defying old age and government authorities, libertarian firebrand Ron Paul was spotted climbing to the top of the Empire State Building, where he unfurled a large banner that read, "End The Fed!"
The 90-year-old retired OB-GYN and three-time presidential candidate was reportedly inspired by the daring couple who earlier in the week climbed atop the skyscraper to spread their own message of love. Dr. Paul was struck by the sudden thought that he could easily do the same media stunt, but instead of promoting hippie nonsense, he would use it to proclaim an anti-government message of liberty.
Police helicopters and eyewitnesses spotted the libertarian icon as he carefully navigated his way to the top of the 1,454-foot spire of the iconic building. At the summit, Paul secured the bold black-and-white flag, its letters visible for blocks across Midtown Manhattan.
"This is bigger than any building," Paul declared in a video statement released shortly after descending. "The Federal Reserve, with its inflation tax, has been destroying the value of the dollar, fueling endless wars, and picking winners and losers in the boom-and-bust cycle for over 100 years. It's time to end the central bank monopoly and return to sound, honest money, like gold."
Dr. Paul continued to add, "I'd also like to announce that you can now trade in your lousy Federal Reserve notes with war criminals on them for 100% genuine Ron Paul dollars made out of real .999 silver! Free the money, free the people! It's happening!"
At publishing time, Ron Paul's team had cut his video feed after he began talking about Israel again.
