CHENGDU, CHINA - Captive members of various churches from across China detained in squalid conditions have been maintaining their faith by secretly circulating a single, tattered copy of Joel Osteen's bestselling book Your Best Life Now, reports confirmed.

"The theology Osteen lays out in this classic work about suffering joyfully and trusting in God's sovereign grace has been a lifesaver for all of us suffering here in Chengdu," one pastor wrote on a piece of scrap paper secretly passed to a source. "Thank God for men like Pastor Osteen, who write works not just to appease the American consumer mindset, but to edify God's church around the globe."

"Like Osteen said, 'You can change your world by changing your words,'" the pastor said. "We are collectively focused on declaring our freedom into existence, and nothing can hold us back. It is our time."

As publishing time, sources confirmed the imprisoned believers were doing everything they could to also procure a copy of John Gray's new book Win From Within after learning that he is an Osteen protégé who recently donated $200,000 to aid the persecuted church.
