GREEN BAY, WI — A promising young athlete who was drafted by the Cleveland Browns has reportedly decided to just retire.
Mason Graham, a 21-year-old defensive tackle from Michigan, has reportedly chosen to end his football career after finding out he had been chosen by the Cleveland Browns.
"It's an honor to be drafted," Graham said. "But I think I'm just going to call it a career."
Scouts had praised Graham's strength and athleticism going into the draft and believed he would be a game changer for any team that picked him, but he opted for retirement when confronted with the idea of playing for the Cleveland Browns.
"I don't know why we even try anymore," said Browns Head Coach Kevin Stefanski. "They wouldn't even give us a do-over, so we're out a whole draft pick."
According to experts, Graham was one of the top defensive prospects in the draft and was expected to have a long and successful career in the NFL. Instead, he will now be working at Starbucks until he finds a job in marketing. "It may not be glamorous," he said. "But it beats playing professional football for the Browns."
