LITTLE ROCK, AR — While taking time to look back on his life after another year passed, a local man fondly recalled Christian music being cool during the three days after DC Talk's Jesus Freak came out.

"Those were the days. And I literally mean ‘days,'" Grant said wistfully. "I remember buying Jesus Freak on CD at the Family Christian Bookstore like it was yesterday. November 21, 1995, baby. Jesus Freak exploded onto the music scene, and for about three days there, Christian music was cool, man. Those were three of the greatest days of my life."

The album's three-day reign of mainstream coolness remains a record to this day. "We knew we had a good album, but we didn't realize it was so good that Christian music would actually be cool for three days," said DC Talk's Toby Mac. "We had done enough of the rap stuff and decided to do an album of actual music. Who knew it would be the secret recipe for three days of mainstream popularity?"

Grant still recalled the brief period with fondness. "For those three days, I was like a king at school," he said. "For that limited window of time, everyone at school thought I was cool. It was an awesome three days."

At publishing time, Grant restated his opinion that, despite the popularity of Jesus Freak, DC Talk would never again be as cool as they were in Carman's "Addicted To Jesus" music video.
