CAPERNAUM — Reports surfaced this week that carpenter-turned-traveling teacher Jesus of Nazareth expressed disappointment with having to share a birthday with the biggest holiday of the year.
Though He had built up a substantial following throughout the villages of Galilee in recent months, those close to Him said Jesus was "bummed" that his birthday would be overshadowed by Christmas every year.
"Sometimes you just want your birthday to be its own thing, you know?" John, one of Jesus' disciples, said. "His mom always tries to save some of His Christmas presents for later in the day and wrap them in birthday paper, but it just doesn't feel like He ever gets to have a real birthday celebration."
Studies showed that being born on Christmas can make people's "special day" feel decidedly less special, with many who were born on December 25 expressing disappointment at how their birthday is honored and wishing they were born on another day more distant from the holiday season.
"He appreciates getting a birthday cake on Christmas, but He knows it's just not the same as the other kids with birthdays in August or whatever," John explained. "I think sometimes He just wishes He didn't have to have this as His birthday, but what can you do?"
At publishing time, Jesus' disciples were reportedly considering holding a special birthday pizza party a week before Christmas next year.
