UNION CITY, PA - Alejandro and Shelley Robles were excited to host a gender reveal party for friends and family but the entire event was completely invalidated after it was discovered neither expectant parent is a biologist.
"We were so excited. We thought we were having a boy," said Shelley. "But now... who knows what it is. It might not even be a baby. I don't know. I'm not a biologist."
The expectant parents had been notified by hospital staff of their baby's sex but they discovered later that the ultrasound technician is not a trained biologist. When they made a follow-up appointment with their doctor, they discovered that she was not a biologist either.
"My ob-gyn is very good," said Shelley sadly. "But not all doctors are biologists. I don't know. I'm not a doctor."
Alejandro wanted to comfort his wife Shelley but he wasn't sure it was the right move. "She seems sad but I don't know. I'm not a psychologist."
The Robleses have been hard at work planning a new party to make up for their last dud. In four years they'll be hosting a biologist reveal party where they announce to their friends and family which one of them will be a biologist. They'll then use their expertise to announce that their baby is a boy.
