SAN FRANCISCO, CA — Elon Musk has generously offered to give Mark Zuckerberg $1 billion to simply change Facebook's name to "Faceboob."
"Think of how much happier everyone will be logging onto 'Faceboob'," said Mr. Musk. "I already jotted down some great ideas for the new site logo. They're pretty good, if I do say so myself. Just trying to do a little good for humanity."
"He he he he he. Faceboob. He."
The offer comes on the heels of a similar proposition Musk made to the head of Wikipedia to change the name of the online reference site to something quite clever that rhymes with Wikipedia. According to sources, Zuckerberg responded to Musk over Threads and later had to have an intern post it on X so people would see it.
"When Elon called and offered to give me a billion dollars to change our name, I thought he was joking," Zuckerberg wrote. "But he wouldn't let it go and I eventually realized he was serious. I'd be lying if I said I didn't consider it for a minute. 'Faceboob' does have a certain, as the French say, je ne sais quoi."
As of print time, Musk had offered to arm-wrestle Zuckerberg for the chance to change the name of Meta to Feta and turn it into a Greek cheese factory. Zuck declined.
