Couple With Joint Facebook Profile's Preferred Pronoun Is 'They'

SARASOTA, FL - A married couple has sparked some drama in their community because they share a Facebook account and have chosen the grammatically correct preferred pronoun of "they."

"Yes, we are Dan and Megyn Pinecone and we go by they/them pronouns, you know, because there are two of us," said Dan Pinecone.

Several have condemned their decision as "making a mockery" of nonbinary people who go by the pronouns "they/them."

"My wife doesn't want her own Facebook account," said Dan Pinecone. "She would go on mine and comment sometimes. I converted it to a joint account so my friend wouldn't think I was the one sharing all those Pinterest makeup tutorial links. But now everyone thinks we're taking some sort of political stand."

"There are two of us!" Dan insisted.

Already the couple is facing calls from several in their neighborhood to remove the pronouns out of sensitivity to the trans community.

Dan was going to remove the preferred pronoun until his wife Megyn decided they had to double down. "This is my - I mean our account. We're the ones using the pronouns correctly!"

Eventually, the couple elected to make the smart move and just get off of Facebook forever.
