HOLLYWOOD, CA — A production of Jesus Christ Superstar was interrupted today after the creature known as Gollum hopped on stage and grabbed a microphone.

The cast recoiled in shock as Gollum sprang on stage with surprising speed, then snatched a microphone with its unnaturally long fingers and began singing.

"I'm still not over the shock," said Adam Lambert, the actor playing Judas Iscariot. "I mean, you're right in the middle of performing 'Jesus Christ Superstar', and then next thing you know, you're face to face with Gollum. This supposedly fictional creature, staring you down, singing about how you're going to betray him. It was terrifying."

According to eyewitnesses, audience members screamed in fright before Gollum quickly disappeared off stage. "I couldn't believe my eyes. I nudged my wife and shouted, 'Honey, it's Gollum!'" said local man Roger Polis. "Gollum actually has a surprisingly nice singing voice. Pretty big range, he's sort of a mezzo soprano. Not what I would have expected."

At publishing time, several locals had reported spotting Gollum leave the theater's backstage later that evening.
