U.S. — A new episode of hit hospital drama Danger Hospital started with a bang when an ER doctor told a patient who was definitely going to die by the end of the episode that he was going to make it.
The patient, suffering from wounds as a result of a violent hate crime, was rushed to the ER just as popular recurring character Dr. Gary Miles was about to go home after a 12-hour shift.
"You're going to be just fine. You're going to make it!" said Dr. Miles to the patient despite the fact that he was obviously going to die by the end of the episode. "I'm a doctor. I know these things."
Though nearly bleeding out when they first met, the patient made a nearly full recovery thanks to the quick actions of Dr. Miles. But the emotional ride soon turned into a deadly rollercoaster as the patient's health suddenly declined.
"I don't understand it," Dr. Miles confided in his love interest Dr. Clara Owens during an intimate scene in the break room. "I did all the stitching. Where is the blood coming from?" Dr. Owens answered with an appropriate double meaning that diagnosed both the patient and the repressed emotions of her lover. "You have to look deeper," she said as she placed a hand on his chest. "You have to look in the heart."
The patient, who was still most definitely going to die, even got up and walked around a little. "You were right, doctor," the patient said. "I really am going to make — "
But the patient did not make it. He died, quite suddenly, of total organ failure. The episode ended with the lingering threat of hate crime hanging heavy over the hospital.
At publishing time, fans anticipated the conclusion of a new subplot introduced during the episode in which a totally healthy person with a routine broken arm would suddenly and catastrophically die of the bubonic plague.
