NEW YORK, NY — In a somber ceremony Friday morning, Mayor Zohram Mamdani laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Hijacker in remembrance of the 25th anniversary of 9/11.
Witnesses reported seeing Mamdani slowly marching toward the monument for the fallen terrorists while holding a large, floral wreath. After placing the wreath on the tomb, Mamdani was seen quietly weeping while wiping away tears from his eyes.
"Let us never forget these men," Mamdani said. "These brave men risked everything and gave their lives for the cause they believed in. I hope we never forget what they sacrificed and what they stood for."
The ceremony marked a recently constructed tomb paid for by the Democratic Socialists of New York to honor hijackers who may not be identified.
"I don't know about this," long-term New York City resident Tom Wilson said. "But, uh, I guess it's racist to have a problem with this… so… yay… I guess."
The ceremony wrapped with a 21-Molotov salute and an Islamic call to prayer.
At publishing time, Mandani had announced he would be starting a 9/11 scholarship for underprivileged terrorists.
