REDMOND, WA — According to sources, a local man who paid over $5 a gallon for gas was sure glad he stuck it to Elon Musk by getting rid of his Tesla.
Darren Travers insisted that getting rid of his Tesla to spite Musk was the best decision he had ever made, even as he charged another $84 to his ARCO card on Friday morning.
"It chills me to think that if I'd kept my Tesla, I wouldn't even be here," Travers said. "I also might not be living in my car."
Witnesses at the ARCO on Willows Rd. described Travers as destitute and a little lost, but obviously at peace.
"I wish I had his sense of purpose," one woman said. "He looks like he's really got things figured out. Someday people will sing songs of him, and they will call him a hero. The fortune he's spending on gas is totally worth it."
At publishing time, Elon Musk had confirmed he knew all about Darren Travers and had never been more upset. "I can't believe he did it," the Tesla founder and CEO said. "It still hurts."
