PENSACOLA, FL - After local drummer Jake "Cozy" Carmen perfectly executed a brutal drum fill leading into the penultimate chorus of popular worship song "How Great Is Our God" Sunday morning, the revered percussionist reportedly threw one of his prized drum sticks out to the crowd, where it was caught by one lucky, screaming fan, sources reported Monday.
"I was really caught up in the passion of the moment," Carmen told reporters, eating M&Ms and spinning his sticks as he relaxed in the green room during the sermon. "When I saw the faces of my die-hard fans worshiping in the front row, I knew I could give one of them a moment they'd never forget." Carmen further stated he usually doesn't do that kind of thing "as a rule," but wanted to glorify God through his excellent showmanship.
According to sources, Carmen talked with with the fan who caught the valuable piece of worship memorabilia after the show near the worship team's merchandise booth in the foyer.
"Cozy is really great to us fans," the lucky audience member told reporters as the drummer signed the stick before retiring backstage to prepare for the next service. "We're truly humbled and blessed to have him leading us before the Almighty each week with his sick beats."
