U.S. — In a touching display of solidarity amid widespread conflict in American cities, WNBA players issued a joint statement announcing they had vowed to continue missing lay-ups until ICE withdraws from Minnesota.

The statement, co-signed by all WNBA players, promised to show support for the immigrant community in Minneapolis and across the United States by dedicating all missed lay-ups to them until the Trump administration agreed to pull out all federal law enforcement agents.

"We won't make a shot until ICE gets out," said Minnesota Lynx star Napheesa Collier. "So, basically, we're just going to keep playing ball the way we know how to play ball. The difference is, we get to use our missed lay-ups to show how much we support all the people who are in the U.S. illegally, know what I'm sayin'? It's a win-win."

Though WNBA players have a storied tradition of missing lay-ups, they said they will now be doing so for a noble cause. "We're putting our talents to use for a higher purpose now," said Angel Reese of the Chicago Sky. "Every time we miss a lay-up — which is real often, feel me? — we want people to take a moment to remember all the people being hunted down by ICE. That's got to be, like, 30 or 40 moments of remembrance during every game, I ain't even playin.'"

At publishing time, the WNBA had reportedly advised the players against pledging $1,000 for every missed lay-up to anti-ICE organizations, as the league has already never been able to turn a profit in its nearly 30-year existence.

Minnesota is the place to be!
