PALM SPRINGS, CA - According to sources at Revelations Church, drummer Carl Jackson drew on the indwelling power of the Lord in order to play the whole first verse of "God of this City" at a reasonable volume during Sunday morning's service.
"It's obvious evidence of the fruit of the Spirit in his life," the worship band's bassist told reporters. "He was able to keep the volume in line with the rest of the instruments and singers, and never once overpowered us."
Jackson later said he was inspired to fight against the temptation to play three or four times louder than the rest of the band during a recent quiet time in the Word.
"I suddenly realized I needed to clothe myself with the Lord Jesus Christ and not think about how to gratify my desire to play louder than Lars Ulrich himself," Jackson said. " By the power of God, I managed to do it, all the way through the first verse."
Jackson further stated he would be attempting to play a whole song at a reasonable volume sometime in the next six to eight months.
"Baby steps," he said.
