ANAHEIM, CA — Angels outielder Mike Trout found himself on the injured list once again after he was unexpectedly crushed by a falling piano during his first at bat in last night's loss to the St. Louis Cardinals.

The injury, which came on the heels of a minor hand contusion Trout suffered in the season opener when he was hit by a pitch, is just the latest in a long line of unfortunate turns of events that have kept one of the most talented players of all time off the field.

"Unbelievable. Last year, he slipped on the banana peel trying to steal second, and now a piano falls on his head," said play-by-play announcer Wayne Randazzo. "This guy just can't catch a break."

Fans were aghast after seeing the piano smash Trout into the dirt like a cartoon character. "Where did that even come from?" one season ticket holder was heard asking. "Who gave someone permission to transport a piano by helicopter and a flimsy frayed rope during the game?"

Despite what appeared to be another devastating injury, Trout managed to give the crowd a thumbs-up from underneath the piano and was in good spirits following the game.

"Believe it or not, I've suffered worse," he told reporters after being outfitted with a full body cast. "I was attacked by a tiger two years ago during pregame warmups. And the year before that, I fell down a flight of stairs after being accidentally lit on fire. It's been a rough few years, but I'll recover. I'm looking forward to getting back out there on the field."

Being crushed by a piano resulted in the 197th trip to the injured list in Trout's otherwise stellar career.

At publishing time, Trout's stay on the injured list had been extended after he was reportedly gored by a bison during a physical therapy session.
