MANCHESTER, NH — Local man Stephen Barnes returned home from work early Monday evening, exhausted after a long day of typing stuff into ChatGPT.
Barnes explained to his wife how difficult it is to maintain such a high level of output for hours and hours on end.
"You don't know how exhausting it is to think of things to type into there," he lamented. "Hour after hour of typing, waiting for replies, seeing what's usable, and sometimes it gets things wrong, and I have to go back and type more stuff into ChatGPT and wait for it to solve the problems."
Barnes admitted that his job as a computer programmer used to involve a lot more brain power, but now all that mental exertion was going toward typing prompts into AI and waiting for responses.
"Sometimes I use it for stuff I know how to do on my own, but I'm just sort of in a rhythm, you know what I mean?" he explained.
At publishing time, Barnes had last been seen stretching out on the living room couch to catch a quick post-work power nap.
