NEW YORK, NY — Continuing what has become a beloved tradition of his presidency, Joe Biden suffered yet another hilarious gaffe, telling the hosts of The View that he was the victim of a hostile coup.
The hilarious story, which the daytime talk show's host panel laughed off as just another quirky moment from the elderly leader, featured Biden good-naturedly retelling the tale of how a ruthless power-hungry cabal stole the presidency right out from under him.
"It was the darndest thing, folks," Biden said as the amused hosts looked on. "I was president of the… president of the… of… the whole deal, see? And the idea… that a bunch of folks who weren't even elected by anyone can just… they can… they can come in and coup me… it's just a bunch of malarkey. And worst of all, Barbara, I don't get to have as much ice cream these days. They said it was because… it was because of… anyway…"
At publishing time, the White House had issued a clarifying statement addressing the incident. "The president simply misspoke," said black and gay Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, who is gay and black. "He was not, at any point, the victim of a secret coup to remove him from office. The mere mention of that is nothing but a wild conspiracy. President Biden was simply retelling a fun anecdote from his childhood and got some of the details wrong. It happens."
