LOS ANGELES, CA — Officials for the Women's National Basketball Association announced this week they have received a letter of intent from Bugs Bunny to enter the draft.
Despite being male, the beloved cartoon character reportedly exploited a league loophole by dressing as an attractive girl bunny at the time of the announcement.
"Eh, what's up, doc?" Bugs quipped, dressed in a pink dress and matching bonnet. "I'm gettin' into this here basketball league and there's no stoppin' me. These ladies won't be able to compete with my patented crossover. Ain't I a stinker?"
Several pundits argued that Bugs was just "pretending to be a woman" and therefore should be ineligible to play, as only men who "sincerely think they're women" are allowed to play in the WNBA. "He's not really a girl bunny. Look at that smirk! He knows exactly what he's doing," said WNBA fan Trisha Cahoon. "It's all a publicity stunt. He's making a mockery of the league and taking the focus off of the incredible women athletes out there. It's a travesty, and we won't stand for it!"
At publishing time, Bugs had replied to the pushback: "Well of course you realize, this means war!"
