SEATTLE, WA — Amazon announced this week that it would be releasing a special edition version of its popular Alexa smart speaker exclusively for husbands called "Husband Alexa." The new device — also called "Alex" — will respond to your wife's long stories so you don't have to.

"We recognize there's a large market share to be had in this demographic," Amazon spokesman Ron Farrell told members of the media at a press conference this week. "Men who can't help but zone out while their wives drone on and on, this one's for you! Husband Alexa will do the hard work on your behalf with automated responses like ‘Sounds great, Honey,' and ‘She was definitely in the wrong.'"

The Husband Alexa will come with hundreds of preset responses that will make your wife feel heard and validated as she enters the 27th minute of her story about that thing her sister said today that really irked her but she can't really explain why.

"Fascinating stuff, Sweetheart... tell me more," Husband Alexa might respond, or, "Wow, she's obviously just super jealous of you, why don't you keep talking while I search for some good Chinese takeout for dinner tonight?"

Advancements in Husband Alexa's AI mean it will even learn to detect when your wife is just venting so that it can remain silent and not try to solve her problems, which makes Husband Alexa even smarter than its normal female counterpart.

At publishing time, Amazon announced it would also be releasing Wife Alexa, which can feign interest in over 150 video games.
