WASHINGTON, D.C. — In a historic first, a sitting U.S. president was forced to subdue members of Congress with a squad of ICE agents, who pepper sprayed unruly Democrats as President Trump delivered his State of the Union address.
Partway through his speech, President Donald Trump gave Tom Homan a curt nod, reportedly signaling to the Border Czar that it was time to send in ICE agents to restore order.
"The state of our Union is strong!" Trump said to resounding applause from half of the house chamber as ICE agents burst through the doors and began pepper spraying Democrats.
"My eyes! My eyes!" shouted Nancy Pelosi as she jumped up out of her chair, prompting a chiding comment from the president. "Oh look, they're finally standing up. Good for you, guys," Trump said to yet another standing ovation.
The moment marked the first time an American president was able to get all members of Congress to stand for him during the State of the Union.
Democrats reportedly screamed aloud in what conservative pundits described as euphoric praise for the president. "Look how happy they are — running in circles like that," Fox News' Sean Hannity said, describing the scene. "They're showing such childlike joy for their favorite president. It's touching, really."
At publishing time, Trump awarded ICE agents the Medal of Valor for showing extreme bravery in the face of Congress.
