Shohei Ohtani Concerned About Effect Betting Scandal Will Have On His World Series Bets

LOS ANGELES — With a massive gambling scandal continuing to unfold around him, Shohei Ohtani has begun to express concerns about how the scandal could alter the Dodgers' World Series odds.

"If the gambling news moves the line too much, it could be devastating," said Ohtani through his interpreter extraordinaire. "I have a ton riding on that... like, a ton of baseball things. Millions of baseball things."

Major League Baseball shocked the world last week after announcing the potential gambling activity of its biggest, most marketable superstar. The league immediately launched an investigation, generously sponsored by gambling app DraftKings, vowing to get to the bottom of whatever that nefarious interpreter did to make Ohtani look bad. In a sign of how seriously the league is taking the allegations, it has assigned veteran umpire Angel Hernandez to personally review the evidence and make a final call.

The league reportedly expects the investigation to be completed in time for Ohtani to make his scheduled pitching start for the Dodgers, and for Ohtani's interpreter to make his scheduled flight to an unnamed island in the Pacific Ocean.
