U.S — A battle between the holiest man in the world and Pope Leo XIV broke out online this week, with many claiming the Pope crossed a line when he criticized the most righteous man ever to walk on earth.
The conflict arose after the Pope turned to social media over the weekend to criticize President Trump's escalation of the conflict in Iran. Many took issue with the Holy See's words, saying criticism of Trump is out of line, as the U.S. President is often considered to be the holiest man in the world.
"I don't think it's appropriate," one source who asked to remain anonymous told members of the Press. "Donald Trump is a righteous leader for the faithful, and criticizing him is completely out of line for the Pope. I don't know what the world is coming to when people think it's ok to engage in online battles with Donald Trump. It's blasphemous, frankly."
Despite the pushback, Pope Leo has refused to back down from critiquing the holy figure of Trump. "I am here to make the Vatican great again, and I am not going anywhere," said a defiant Pope Leo. "I think Trump is WEAK on his application of Just War Theory and SOFT on Catholic social teaching. Thank you for your attention to this matter!"
At publishing time, polls had shown Pope Leo's approval numbers slipping as supporters felt conflicted over his lashing out at an upright and holy man.
