PHOENIX, AZ - Popular apologist, theologian, debater, and author Dr. James White of Alpha & Omega Ministries has managed to ride his Cannondale SuperSix Evo bicycle all the way around the world before his 2:00 p.m. Tuesday webcast. White, who is also an elder of Phoenix Reformed Baptist Church, needed just 3 hours and 54 minutes to traverse the daunting 24,901 miles, edging out the previous record of 106 days, 10 hours, and 33 minutes.
"If I'm being perfectly honest with you, I'm a little disappointed in my time," White told listeners of The Dividing Line, his webcast in which he discusses topics from theology and apologetics to culture and current events. "I had to stop near Dubai to fix a flat, so that hurt me by a few minutes. I also took a sec at the Taj Mahal to have a nice lady snap a pic so I could share it on Facebook. So yeah, I am sure I can substantially improve my showing next week."
White did not seem at all winded or fatigued on his live broadcast, during which he touched on various subjects such as the ordo salutis, the reliability of the Scriptures, the deity of Christ and His specific roles within the Trinity, and the superiority of the bow tie.
The brilliant theologian also announced that he is not stopping at the circumnavigation feat. In response to a live webcast call, he is considering a new test of endurance: "After I get these next few-dozen theology debates off my plate, I think I'll ride to the moon."
