SUNNYVALE, CA — In a clear sign of progress, developers confirmed that A.I. was now only racist against Italians.
The leap forward came after numerous claims arose that the large language models were found to be racist against other groups of people, including displaying rampant antisemitism. Experts said that A.I.'s advancement to only being racist against Italians represented a significant step forward.
"It only makes startlingly derogatory statements about Italians now. But, honestly, who doesn't?" said one researcher on a team working around the clock to clean up A.I. view of people groups. "Sure, it might assume that every Italian person is in the Mafia, and it might refer to Italians as 'guidos,' but at least we got it to stop generating pictures of black people when it was asked to depict Nazi infantrymen. I mean, the irrational Italian hatred isn't all that bad by comparison. We can live with it."
Data scientists said that the advances in A.I. anti-racism would result in a net win for all of humanity, except for the Italians, whom the A.I. has begun recommending be rounded up and separated from the rest of society.
"There's clearly still work to be done," said another analyst. "But, honestly, things have come a long way. If tossing a few slurs about Italians is as bad as it gets now, I think everyone would be fine with it. Except those stinkin' Italians."
At publishing time, A.I. had reportedly made further progress by only responding to Italian users with a comedically stereotypical Italian accent.
