PENSACOLA, FL — As the end of his first semester at the local Bible college loomed ever nearer, freshman Jed Clines started to worry about his prospects of ever winning a wife.

According to Clines, the 226 other students at North Florida Independent Bible College had each now found godly spouses in the first 3 weeks of the school year and would be getting married over Christmas break. Clines, on the other hand, faced the risk of languishing alone for the remainder of his days if he failed to find a Proverbs 31 woman before his first semester ended.

"Could God be calling me to be a eunuch for the Kingdom of Heaven?" an anguished Clines cried out in dismay. "But it is not good for man to be alone! How then shall I live outside of the good and godly safe haven of marriage? My time is almost up — first semester is basically over, and someone who could be my beloved is nowhere in sight. O, wretched man that I am."

Clines searched everywhere to no avail, according to his friends Reuben Gaines and Matthew Smith, both of whom got engaged within three weeks of getting to Bible college.

"I feel bad for him, but he just needs to hearken to the voice of wisdom crying in the streets," Reuben said. "A godly wife is from the Lord, and I have no doubt that God can miraculously supply Jed with his true love before the semester ends, if such be His gracious will."

At publishing time, Clines had been saved from a lifetime of almost certain singleness after he found, courted, and betrothed himself to the love of his life with just two days to spare before finals.
