GRAND RAPIDS, MI — After seeing reports of an anti-ICE protest at a Minnesota Target, local wife Beth Harris announced she would also stand up for the plights of immigrants by spending a day in Target.
"I care deeply about the issues," Harris told her family. "Issues are important. That's why I need to go to Target again."
In a show of support for undocumented immigrants being rounded up by ICE, Harris bought, among other things, some new kitchenware, three purses, and a whole new wardrobe. "This is for those Mexicans," she said as she presented her credit card at the cash register. "Or Somalians or whatever they are. They're brown."
According to Target employees, Harris was a model customer during her visit. "She mostly kept to herself and shopped," noted Target Supervisor Edward Habbens. "If more protestors were like her, I think I'd come over to their side and start backing over ICE agents with my car. You know, for the immigrants."
Harris' husband blasted her philanthropic work and advised her against additional visits to Target. "Can't you stand up for immigrants at Dollar Tree?" he asked.
At publishing time, Harris organized a walkout of her own house until her husband agreed to support her in her protest at Target.
