U.S. - Multiple sources confirmed that President Trump included an "OK" hand sign emoji at the end of his presidential alert to the entire nation Wednesday, "so that everyone would know that it would be OK."
The text message read, "THIS IS A TEST of the National Wireless Emergency Alert System. No action is needed. 👌"
Social networks quickly lit up with outraged citizens discussing the racist implications of what some are calling a "white power" sign.
"I just wanted everyone to know it would be OK," Trump told reporters. "So I used the OK sign. OK?"
But Americans weren't accepting his explanation, definitively stating that the sign was a "dog whistle" to racists all over America.
"This is disgusting!" one man in Oregon said, adding that he threw away his iPhone X in protest.
At publishing time, Trump had announced he would be sending the "OK" sign "a few times a week" to remind Americans everything is going to be alright.
