He held up his hands and was gone - vanished like a wraith in the wind. I couldn't fathom what had happened to him. Had he abandoned me? Had some harm befallen him? Did he no longer exist? Then, just as suddenly as he disappeared, he reappeared. His hands were down, his face ever present.
"Peek-a-boo!" he said.
That moment was one I shall never forget for the rest of my life.
The game was repeated. He would blink in and out of existence, forcing me to confront what I thought I knew of the laws of physics.
