Remembering Babylon Bee Subscriber @JackFlash

If you have been a member of the Bee community for a while, you'll remember beloved subscriber @JackFlash. Those of us in the headline forum always loved to see him pop up because that meant we'd be treated to a clever and funny headline pitch. Jack joined the forum in April 2021, describing himself as a "Christian. Attorney. Great believer in the power of satire and a devoted fan of well-executed snark." His family and friends say he was The Babylon Bee's biggest fan.

A close friend of one of Jack's family members, our social media wizard, MJ, attended Jack's funeral this past weekend. She reported to the staff that he had submitted over 400 headlines to us and was so excited when he finally got one published: "Mounting Evidence Indicates Critical Race Theory Escaped From A Lab In A College Humanities Department," which you can read here.

His love for the Bee and the wonderful community here ran so deep that his family mentioned the Bee several times during the service and had a copy of the Sacred Texts displayed among his family photos. What an honor and a testament to what a great community you've all built here!

Moments like this are a reminder to all of us about why we do what we do, and the impact we all have on each other in this life and the next. We will miss Jack and his well-executed snark. Please remember his family and friends in your prayers. You can find Jack's beautiful obituary here.

"The sweetest thing in all my life has been the longing — to reach the Mountain, to find the place where all the beauty came from — my country, the place where I ought to have been born. Do you think it all meant nothing, all the longing? The longing for home? For indeed it now feels not like going, but like going back." - C.S. Lewis
