DALLAS, TX — Citing extreme mental fatigue, local mother Sarah Jenkins made the decision this week to drop her children off for the first day of school roughly three weeks before the actual first day.
Witnesses said Jenkins pulled into the empty parking lot at 7:15 a.m. and instructed her kids to go find the front doors and wait patiently.
"The calendar says the first day is August 17, but my brain says it's today," Jenkins said. "They have backpacks and lunchboxes. It's out of my hands now."
Her children, Kinsley and Knox, were left standing in the school parking lot, eating frozen Go-Gurt and staring confusedly through the windows at a janitor mopping the hallway floors.
School officials expressed mild concern.
"She was informed that the teachers aren't even back yet," said Principal Arthur Vance. "She just rolled up her window, took a sip of iced coffee, and peeled out."
At publishing time, dozens of other local mothers were spotted pulling into the lot with vans full of children, hailing Jenkins as a visionary ahead of her time.
