U.S. — American singer/songwriter Kanye West took to social media to denounce anti-Semitic comments made by a mysterious, unhinged individual known only as "Ye."
"This Ye guy is totally insane," Kanye West said on Truth Social on Sunday night. "I wouldn't let him near my kids. His comments about Jewish people are reprehensible, especially coming from a person who looks just like me. He's definitely not me though. Someone should do something about that guy."
West's post on Truth Social went viral after being "re-truthed" twice, a record for the platform.
Critics have called out West for crudely deflecting blame. "There are pictures of Ye all over the Internet. It's obviously you!" said @truthpatriot47 in a direct reply to West's Truth Social post.
"Not me," West soundly refuted. "I would never make comments about the evil Jews that control everything the way that 'Ye' guy did. Unacceptable."
Kanye West's Truth Social account was later suspended indefinitely.
At publishing time, the multiple Grammy winner discussed his account suspension in a new YouTube show called "Conspiracy With Kanye" in which he further discussed the Ye/Kanye West conspiracy "everyone is talking about." Thus far there are only two episodes and they consist of angry voice-overs accompanied by side-by-side picture comparisons of Ye and Kanye, who he still maintains are two different people.
