AUSTIN, TX — Senate candidate James Talarico announced on Monday morning that he would be following in the inspiring footsteps of Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and electing to have his eggs frozen.
Talarico posted a video injecting himself with recombinant hormones to stimulate the release of eggs, which would be collected by his obstetrician for freezing until "the time is right" for having children.
"In light of this administration denying access to reproductive health, I want to keep my options open," explained Talarico. "This is a personal decision that every egg-producing person must make for themselves. Right now, I'm completely focused on winning the Senate race in Texas. That doesn't mean that I should also be denied the chance to one day grow a baby in my tummy."
Talarico admitted to being inspired to have his eggs frozen by the powerful example of Ocasio-Cortez. "I saw her, and I thought to myself, 'Wow, I don't want my fertile years to pass me by while I'm chasing this political dream,'" said Talarico. "The process of egg collection and preservation is extremely safe, and it gives me more control over my life. It's a conversation that every chest-feeding person should have with their obstetrician."
At publishing time, Talarico had announced that he would be donating some of his eggs to help Pete Buttigieg have more children.
