AUSTIN, TX — Local husband Matt Gaines was rushed to the Intensive Care Unit Tuesday evening after attempting a two-minute beginner's yoga video on YouTube.

According to witnesses, the incident happened when Gaines' wife, Sarah, suggested a light stretch to relieve his lower back tightness. Gaines allegedly readily accepted what he thought would be an easy endeavor.

"He lasted about forty-five seconds," Sarah recalled. "The instructor asked him to transition into something called 'Downward Dog.' Matt let out a sound like a deflating balloon, collapsed onto the rug, and stopped moving."

Emergency personnel arrived within minutes to find Thomason stuck in a Tadasana pose. First responders had to gently extract him from his living room rug before stabilizing his shattered pride and severely overstretched hamstring.

"We see this all the time," Chief Paramedic Dan Higgins said. "Men think 'beginner' means easy. But standard yoga poses require flexibility that no man who plays recreational softball possesses. He's lucky to be alive."

At publishing time, Gaines was said to be in stable condition, though doctors said it may take weeks before he'll be able to walk without a limp.
