INDIANAPOLIS, IN — The Indianapolis Colts unveiled a new trick play where quarterback Philip Rivers fakes a handoff, then jogs off the field to get his wife pregnant again.
The unorthodox play has caught defenses completely off guard, leaving opposing teams searching for answers.
"I don't know how you stop it," said Texans defensive coordinator Matt Burke. "The linebackers bite on the handoff, and before they have time to recover, Rivers' wife is already pregnant again. Rivers executes the play at such a high level, there's just no defensive scheme that can account for it."
According to sources with the Colts, the creation of the play came about after the team informed Rivers that he would have to at least temporarily stop procreating to play quarterback. "Rivers said that's just not going to happen," said Colts coach Shane Steichen. "So we started thinking outside the box. What if he could sire another child as part of a play? It's been a revelation."
At publishing time, the Colts were forced to build a fourth deck in the stadium to hold all of the Rivers' children.
