U.S. — According to sources, Americans no longer need dystopian sci-fi novels to serve as ominous warnings of authoritarian control or societal collapse, as they now have England for that.

"Watching the news out of England hits closer to home than George Orwell's 1984 or A Clockwork Orange," said UCLA Professor of Sociology Dr. Dylan Murphy. "Truly riveting stuff."

What used to be far-flung fantasy is now the reality in England in most cases, say experts. England already has totalitarian control through mass surveillance and propaganda, women being treated as property under a heavy muslim demographic, diminished civil liberties, and the erasure of the English identity. Many believe the real-life drama is far more compelling and horrifying than most dystopian fiction.

"Did you see what happened in the UK today?" said one dystopian sci-fi enthusiast. "Totally gnarly. Like The Walking Dead and Idiocracy combined. Someone pass the popcorn!"

Experts are warning Americans that if changes aren't made soon, their own country could suffer the same fate. "It shouldn't be hard," said one local expert. "We just have to look at what the UK is doing and then do the opposite. Sounds like a no-brainer."

At publishing time, Americans had not heeded the warning as they were too busy watching the latest post-apocalyptic entertainment coming out of Liverpool.
