CAPERNAUM — After struggling to carefully lower their friend through the roof on his mat, the companions of the paralytic man figured it would probably be okay to just drop him.
Using ropes attached to the four corners of the mat, the friends had trouble keeping it level as they lowered their friend to see Jesus. Finally, one of the friends mentioned that, at this point, it probably wouldn't be a big deal if they just let go.
"I mean, what's it gonna do to him? He's already paralyzed," said Philip. "Besides, he's about to meet Jesus. If this Jesus can cure his paralysis, injuries from a 10-foot fall should be no big deal. My arms are burning, guys."
Onlookers inside the home reported that the paralytic man was a bit less keen on the idea.
"Don't you drop me, Matthias! Don't do it!" cried the man. "I hear you talking up there. If you drop me and I do get healed, so help me, I will leg drop you. You'll find out what these legs can do!"
At publishing time, the friends of the newly healed paralytic had assured him that they were totally joking about that whole "dropping from the roof" thing.
