CORVALLIS, OR - Local man Greg Fischer reports he was looking for a church online Friday morning after recently relocating from out of state, when he stumbled upon The Wandering Church's statement of faith. After reviewing several of the key doctrines, he suddenly realized almost the entire statement of faith was copied directly from lyrics by rock band U2.
In a blog post, Fischer recorded excerpts of the statement of faith so others could see the similarity:
Article II.) Of Man And Sin
And the battle's just begun
There's many lost, but tell me who has won
The trench is dug within our hearts
And mothers, children, brothers, sisters
Torn apart
Sunday, Bloody Sunday
Article IV.) Of Salvation
One man washed up on an empty beach
One man betrayed with a kiss
In the name of love
What more in the name of love
Article X.) Of Heaven And The Last Things
The city's a flood, and our love turns to rust
We're beaten and blown by the wind
Trampled in dust
I'll show you a place
High on a desert plain
Where the streets have no name
In response to a request for comment regarding the alleged plagiarism, a representative for The Wandering Church stated, "Will it make it easier on you, now you got someone to blame? It's one love, we get to share it, it leaves you baby if you don't care for it."
"Did I disappoint you?" he added.
