ATLANTA, GA — After weeks of discussion, a local Bible study has officially righted the record by changing its name to the "Jennifer Support Group."
According to Dave, who has led the study for the past four and a half years, the name change is meant to better reflect what actually goes on during the group's meetings.
"I just felt kinda bad continuing to call it a Bible study when all we ever do is listen to Jennifer talk about her problems," Dave said. "Every time we open up 1 Peter, she starts in with another tale of woe. Apparently, her car ran out of gas on the freeway yesterday after her husband forgot to fill the tank up for her. It's fine, I guess, but we can't really call that a 'Bible study' in the proper sense of the phrase."
Jennifer said she appreciated the name change.
"I'm glad my church family can be so supportive and recognize what's truly important for us to consider when we meet on Wednesday nights," Jennifer said. "Like, if they don't want to hear about my stinging nerve pain even after 32 visits to my chiropractor, are they even part of the Body of Christ with me? I don't think so."
At publishing time, Jennifer had requested that her local church change its name to the God Will Send Many Blessings And Much Peace On His Dear Child Jennifer Showers Of Mercy Church.
