LOS ANGELES, CA — Sources disclosed that a 39-year-old man named Jordan Benson was reportedly considering a career change to become an astronaut after seeing that mankind is going back to the moon and possibly even Mars.

Benson's newly kindled interest in astronaut life seemed to have struck him smack-dab in the middle of his mid-life crisis as he sat at his boring desk job, where he oversees all the waterworks, storm drain, and sewer improvement projects for the city of Los Angeles. Benson was just putting the finishing touches on another set of improvement plans when he saw on a news app that the Artemis II capsule crew had successfully completed their slingshot orbit around the moon and came home safely with a splashdown in the Pacific Ocean.

"We're going back to the friggin' moon," witnesses reported hearing Benson say. "That's not too hard a field to get into, is it? I have engineering and logistics experience… right?"

Seeing the inextinguishable human spirit on display in exploring the stars and planets again seemed to have set off something primal in Benson, according to his family and co-workers.

"Astronaut stuff is all he talks about now," bemoaned Benson's wife and the mother of his three children, Jessica. "At this point, I want to launch him into space just to stop hearing him talk about Saturn V rockets, what kind of space ice cream he wants to try next, or how close Elon Musk is to colonizing Mars."

At publishing time, Benson was last seen signing up for summer space camp to begin his transition to becoming a real-life astronaut.
