MINNEAPOLIS, MN - A mint-condition beige suit jacket once belonging to John Piper and worn during his rookie year preaching at Bethlehem Baptist Church has sold at an auction for just over $1.8 million, sources confirmed Tuesday.
Bidding reportedly started at $500,000 and was quickly pushed way over the asking price by several wealthy Piper fans and organizations interested in the timeless piece.
The winning bidder, a curator of the official John Piper museum in Minneapolis, stated the piece will be going on display along with other Piper memorabilia this fall.
