You'll Never Guess What's Under The Pyramids! (It's Sand)

GIZA — Researchers have made a startling discovery about what lies beneath the Great Pyramids: it's sand.

Using advanced ground-penetrating radar technology, experts say they are now confident that there is a lot of sand sitting under the Giza Necropolis. So much sand, in fact, that it could very well rewrite Egyptian history as we know it.

"We saw studies where people were using radar to find lost cities in the Amazon and we thought we could do the same thing for Egypt," said a spokesperson for the Khufre Project. "And it worked! We have determined, beyond a reasonable doubt, that there is sand below the pyramids."

"So cool."

However, some researchers say the discovery is nothing but pure fantasy. "There's no way there's just sand under there. It's got to be rocks and — I don't know — a vast underground city too," said former minister of antiquities Dr. Zahi Hawass. "But sand? That's ridiculous."

Speculation of a what lay beneath the Great Pyramids has persisted for years, with some suggesting there could be hidden alien technology or a vast network of tunnels with definitive proof of the Exodus. But no, there's just sand.

"Not just sand. Lots and lots of sand," confirmed Radar Signal Processing Expert Philip Bologna. "It's coarse and rough and irritating and it gets everywhere."
