GARY, IN — Local woman Sheila Brown just wasn't in the mood for comedy the other night, according to her husband Nigel. Fortunately, however, the couple had a perfect solution: watching SNL.
"It was pretty clear that she'd had a long day," recalled Nigel. "I knew it was trouble as soon as she sat down, scarfed three Dove chocolates, and plopped down on the couch. I proposed a nice rom-com to lighten up the evening, but she wasn't feeling it, so we just picked SNL. It was great — absolutely no laughs whatsoever for the entire night. Seems like it totally hit the spot."
According to Sheila, watching SNL perfectly scratched her itch for a dull, uninteresting hour of unfunny television.
"I just couldn't do with any laughs that day," she said. "I'm so glad we have downers like SNL around for when comedy just ain't it."
According to Nigel, the couple have been switching on SNL every time they want a quiet, entirely dull, completely tiresome evening for the last five or ten years now.
At publishing time, Sheila had changed her mind about comedy and started watching a clip of Jimmy Kimmel weeping his little eyes out on repeat.
