SALT LAKE CITY, UT — Local mom Rachel Meyers complained to her husband this week about all the things she has to do that she voluntarily scheduled for herself.
"Honey, why am I so stressed??? Also, we have that soccer fundraiser tonight I volunteered to run plus Zack has that music lesson this afternoon I signed him up for and you need to go to the church service project later, remember I put your name down weeks ago?" Rachel told her husband Greg.
Rachel spent the better part of the day feeling completely overwhelmed with life and wondering which of the completely optional things she scheduled for herself she could remove from her calendar. She admitted to her husband she knows she took too much on but also she's been thinking maybe they should get another dog or some backyard chickens or something.
"I'm so busy these days; I just never have time to take a break," Rachel complained. "Also, what if we sign the kids up for this cool art class I saw online, it's only three times a week and twenty-five minutes away and OH! Someone just texted me from the school and asked if I'd be on the music committee this coming year and would I have time to direct fifteen performances that sounds fun but WHY AM I SO BUSY ALL THE TIME???!!!"
As of publishing time, Greg had asked Rachel if they could spend more downtime at home just relaxing. Rachel responded by saying that sounded amazing but she just booked the family to volunteer at the local food bank and committed to running the school's fun run and art night this year.
