CARACAS — Following the deposition of dictator Nicolas Maduro, the White House announced that Donald Trump would make his return to reality television to choose the next Venezuelan president in the inaugural season of El Aprendiz.

In a lucrative deal that includes television networks NBC, Telemundo, Univision, and Venevision, Trump agreed to reprise the hosting role he made famous on The Apprentice for a new show that would determine which lucky contestant would succeed Maduro as the leader of the Venezuelan government.

"It's going to be a tremendous show, probably the best show ever put on television," Trump told reporters in the Oval Office when making the announcement. "We've assembled a great group of competitors, and we're confident that not only will Venezuela end up with a wonderful new president, but the ratings will be through the roof. Probably the highest ratings NBC has had in many years. The Apprentice was great. This one is called El Aprendiz, which is Spanish, but still great."

In a joint press release, NBC and the three Spanish-language networks teased a few of the high-profile names who will participate in the competition. "El Aprendiz will feature an all-star lineup of contestants," the statement read. "Ted Nugent, Gary Sinise, Dean Cain, Carrot Top, Omarosa, and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio are just a few of the names from the star-studded cast. Who will win the coveted role and take control of the largest oil reserves in the world? Tune in to find out, and don't miss an episode of El Aprendiz!"

The State Department issued a public statement from Secretary Rubio: "Please eliminate me in the first week. I'm serious. I don't want any more jobs."

At publishing time, the networks confirmed that the first episode of El Aprendiz would feature the contestants competing in a challenge to find out which of them could apply the most effective economic pressure to Colombia.
