HADDONFIELD, NJ — Look out, trick-or-treaters! For Halloween this year, the Jenkins family decorated their house as a data center. Spooky!
Local wife and mother Trish Jenkins had reportedly been racking her brain about how to one-up last year's gothic graveyard theme when she began to notice how worried people were about a nearby data center development.
"I was going to do a Backrooms-themed house until I realized it would pretty much look like a normal house, except maybe a little more yellow. Then it hit me — data centers! Everyone's terrified of data centers!" Jenkins said. "They're scared to death of them!"
The Jenkins family reportedly spent thousands of dollars decorating the exterior of their house to look like an unassuming warehouse with a deadly secret: computer servers. To complete the look, they opened up the garage and lined the interior with IBM mainframes. Inside, a single man (portrayed by Trish's husband) sits watching the humming machines, warning about the end of days.
"Watch out, kids! The data center is poisoning your water!" he said during a weekend preview as he slowly rolled over in his office chair, just out of reach of onlookers. "Super Intelligence is coming to get you!"
At publishing time, the Jenkins house was set to go live every weekend leading up to Halloween, offering visitors candy and a terrifying look into the end of mankind.
